Kylie Cosmetics Matte Lip Kits

These elusive lipsticks have been everywhere, which is pretty ironic since they're impossible to get your hands on. From the first launch I've been trying to get one and, much to my disappointment, missed out every single time - until now obviously. Not knowing when I'll be able to get more I bit the bullet and ordered the 6 that I wanted in one go (and didn't have to pay customs woohoo!).

Koko K

Described as a pale pinky nude it's a light to medium pink shade depending on your skin tone with slight warm, brown undertones. On my fair complexion it is a very true mid tone pink and a beautiful every day shade. This one is a favourite among many and I am most definitely one of the many. The formula is opaque, creamy and easy to apply. It sets after about 20 seconds and doesn't move until you scrub it off. During meals I've noticed that it does begin to fade, particularly in the centre of the lips, but you should be good unless your meal is super oily.

Candy K

A true warm toned nude. It does have a hint of pink but the brown within the shade is much more apparent and makes it much darker on me. It doesn't make it an unattractive colour though but it can make your teeth look slightly yellow. This behaves much the same as Koko K but I found that once I applied this if I reapplied throughout the day and layered the product it would begin to crumble. It didn't happen as obviously when I had filled in my entire lips with the lip liner but it was still an issue. Apart from that, it's pretty much identical to Koko K.

Posie K
A muted medium to deep, dusty rose shade with a hint of mauve and subtle brown tones. Against my pale skin this is a relatively dark shade. It's still easily wearable and flattering but I can imagine this being insanely beautiful on deeper, darker skin tones. It's most certainly the kind of shade that we all know Kylie to wear especially with the brown tones running through it and again is very similar to the previous shades in terms of formula. Being a darker shade I did expect it to be patchy but it's not at all. It applies and wears like an absolute dream boat.

22
This is described as a vibrant burnt orange but on me it's much more like a medium, muted terracota colour. It has some warmer brown and red tones running through it but more than anything it's just a good old orange shade varying in darkness depending on your complexion. It's formula is a bit of a weird one. So far all the shades listed above are comfortable to wear for long periods of time but this one feels drier and becomes noticeably more uncomfortable the longer you have it on. Apart from that it lasts just as long and is just as opaque and I can't say that I've noticed it crumbling or fading at any point unless eating a meal.

Mary Jo K

The most beautiful deep red shade with strong cool, blue undertones. This unfortunately is one of the more problematic shades, at least it has been for me. It is true that most of the shades in the collection have trouble with layering as they start to crumble but as soon as I applied this and let it set I could very easily rub it off and watch it all crumble away to nothing. It did improve when I filled in my entire lip with the liner first but I'm still yet to wear it and it look as perfect as it does on Instagram. It's such a shame because it's so beautiful and I hope I just got a weird one or something. If you did want this one don't let me sway you! It's way too gorgeous not to own. It still preforms well in every other way although I can't really comment on longevity as I haven't been able to keep it on my lips for more than about an hour - yet. I'm determined to make it work!

Kourt K
This colour is amazing. It's an absolute stunning deep purple but oh god it's so patchy it hurts my heart. Again, it can be remedied by applying the liner all over your lips and then applying the lipstick but you'll still end up with lighter and darker patches. If you do layer this, which you probably will have to to make it even, light layers seem to work quite well. It does begin to crumble after a while but you should be able to go 4-5 hours without a problem.

Overall I think these are without a doubt worth every penny. The shade selection caters to pretty much everyone and you're bound to find something you like. I also think it's great that they come with a lip liner especially considering how creamy, opaque and lovely they are. If you haven't got round to getting one of these yet and you needed a recommendation I would go for Candy K or Koko K, particularly if you share my extremely sun deficient complexion. They are wonderful every day, flattering nudes and you need them a-snap.

For my UK girls, my shipping experience seems to be one in a million. Every delivery update I got was correct and on time and the whole thing took less than a week. I like to think it was my constant praying to the make up gods but I think I was just lucky. I didn't have to pay customs and I don't really know why. If you have any questions about shipping I'll try and help, so feel free to leave a comment or email me.

Have you bought any of these? What's your favourite shade?

  1. Candy K and Kourt K both look gorgeous - I'm sure it won't be long until I cave in and join the struggle of trying to order them too!

  2. Posie K is gorgeous, but I just can't justify spending that much on a liquid lipstick. I may give in one day though.

    1. It does help justify it a little bit that it comes with a lip liner too, and the quality of most of them is pretty wonderful! xxx

  3. I'm so sad Kourt K was a miss. Sometimes these purple pigments just don't hold the same way! Some of the others look lovely though. Nice swatches!

    1. I think it's just the darker shades that sometimes struggle with even pigmentation, but it's so disappointing. I'll find a way to make it work!
