Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks - Stripped, Crush & American Doll

If you haven't tried these. You need to. Immediately.

So spoiler alert, I really, REALLY love these. The formula is beautiful (for the most part). It's pretty thin, which I personally prefer, but it doesn't make them streaky at all. They are all so pigmented with such beautiful shades. And just an FYI - I'm gonna be saying beautiful a lot.

They are drying although I feel like that's a given with liquid lipsticks. I don't find them super uncomfortable but if you're not used to dry, mattifying formulas then maybe keep a lip balm handy. For longevity they're pretty great. I'd say they last flawlessly for around 4 hours without transferring but then some maintenance will most definitely be required.
The only thing that I'm not thrilled about is how badly they settle after around the 3 hour mark. Even if your lips aren't dry it seems like they create lines just to accentuate them. Not flattering, but not the be all and end all. I've found lightly dabbing a balm over the top seems to fix the situation but then of course they will transfer.

Stripped

My favourite. Possibly my all time favourite lipstick ever. I have been on the hunt for the "perfect nude" for what feels like an eternity and I could burst into song from happiness at finding this. It's a light, neutral to warm toned beige with a matte finish. It's not too light that it washes you out but not too dark that it looks vampy. It's heaven in lipstick form. I'm obsessed. As for the formula it's thin, like all of them, but I haven't had any issues with it streaking and even if I did, it's so easily buildable it wouldn't be a problem. Often with lighter lipstick shades you can see a dip in pigmentation quality but I think this really holds it's own. I just love it and everything about it. Can ya tell?! It lasts for around 5 hours on me.

Crush
A muted dusty rose shade with warm undertones and a matte finish. A gorgeous shade but not really for me. I really do like the colour but I think it's a little too deep and the slight mauve tones in it are really not flattering for my skin tone. The formula is fab though and performs really similarly to Stripped even despite the colour difference and again, lasts around 4/5 hours on me. It does cling to lines and drier patches more obviously but I think that's just down to the colour making it more apparent not so much because of a change in formula.

American Doll
A classic blue toned red with a matte finish. The pigmentation of this is insane. It's vibrant, so red it almost hurts your eyes to look at and dries down completely true to the colour of it on application. This is definitely up there with my top reds of all time for colour anyway, the formula? Not so much. It's definitely wearable but I seem to have a lot more issues with this than the other two. I notice that it settles more although that could just be down to the shade making it more obvious but still irritating nonetheless. I've also found that it seems to start flaking at around the two hour mark and noticeably fades from the inner part of your lips. It still doesn't transfer at all, at least for the first two hours but will absolutely need some fixing.

Of all the liquid lipsticks I've tried this formula is by far my favourite. It's a true matte finish, the pigmentation is beautiful and apart from them settling and accentuating drier patches they are pretty darn perfect. I'm excited to try more shades and plan to pick up at least another 3 when I'm in Paris next week (SO MUCH EXCITEMENT).

Have you tried these? What's your favourite brand for liquid lipsticks?

  1. I picked one of these up when I was in America and although I love the formula, the shade doesn't really suit me. I definitely need a couple more in different shades though as they are so nice!

  5. I haven't try this because I heard they're drying and I don't get along well with dry lips. I'm a fan of Nyx soft matte lip cream, it might not be the most long-lasting product, but they're comfortable.

  8. I absolutely love the shades you picked up!! I've been eyeing Ashton but now Crush has definitely been added to my wish list. 5 hours of lasting power?? That sounds great too. It's unfortunate that the different shades have different wear times, but other brands have that issue too. I've never tried the ABH lipsticks but the KVD ones are my favorite formula of the bunch I've tried! The Kylie ones do come in second.
