Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation

This the only Illamasqua product I own and if it's anything to go by - I'm in desperate need of a splurge.

The formula is absolutely incredible. It's light and airy, allows your skin to still actually look like skin and yet has medium to full coverage that you can build up as much as you want to. It applies and wears beautifully and with a butt tonne of choices, you're bound to find one that's your perfect shade. The finish is demi matte so it doesn't look dewy at all, but it doesn't completely drain your face of all life either - which is always a bonus. Also handy to note that it photographs really well, and doesn't give you that inhuman glow if someone snaps a picture of you with the flash on.

It isn't drying in the slightest as some fuller coverage foundations can be and I've noticed that it fairs surprisingly well against my oily skin too. Usually I'd have lost most of the product around my t-zone after 2 or 3 hours, but this held it's own and lasted flawlessly for around 5 hours on me - 7 with a primer and frequent powdering. All in all, I'm a big fan of this one. So much so that it's up there with my favourite foundations of all time.

I really think it's worth the price tag and will be a foundation I repurchase time and time again. It's fab.

Have you tried this foundation? Do you think £32.50 is too expensive?

  1. I remember the days when Illamasqua used to be sold at Sephora. Now I have no idea where to get it! Anyways, this foundation sounds lovely. Finding a good full coverage concealer can be quite the task but it founds like you found your one :D

  3. I always splurge on my base makeup, as long as I get my foundation right everything else seems to work pretty well. I have oily skin too so I think this would actually work really well for me, the finish sounds beautiful! There is nothing better than finding a good foundation x

  5. I'm instantly sold when you said this works well on oily skin! Illamasqua based is not as talked about as their colorful product, so, this post is really helpful in shedding light their other amazing product. Thank you!
