Kylie Cosmetics - Kyshadow The Bronze Palette

After more than a few failed attempts at trying to add this baby to my collection, it's finally mine.

A tiny palette full of 9 warm toned eyeshadows 2 of which are shimmery and 7 are matte. I really like the shade selection, not only because they're so seasonally appropriate, but because I'm such a sucker for shades on the warmer end of the spectrum and these tick every box.

The shadows themselves are okay. Some are better than others like with most palettes but they're not particularly great - especially for $42 (£35). The pigmentation for most of them is lovely but the texture of a few is just a bit of a let down.

Jasper
A pale toned, creamy beige with slight pink undertones. The texture is soft although a little powdery but it doesn't have a massive amount of fall out. It's a really pretty option for a matte highlight shade or all over the lid as a base. It lasted 5 hours on me.

Quartz
A light warm toned golden shade with a shimmery finish. It feels stiff in the pan and takes some work to get any pigment on the eye. I've found it works much better when it's pressed on to the eye as opposed to blended in any way. It lasted for around 3/4 hours.

Topaz
A muted, medium brown with mostly neutral undertones and a matte finish. It feels soft and smooth in the pan and applies like an absolute dream boat. I really love this shade, the formula is fab. There is a small amount of fall out but not enough to make it difficult to use. It lasted for 6 hours.

Goldstone
A true bronze shade with flecks of gold and a slight warm undertones. It has a shimmery finish with a lot more pigment than Quartz. It has a buttery consistency and applies well. This shade is another winner for me and lasted around 5 hours on the eye.

Citrine
The most beautiful orange shade I ever did see. It's a muted rust orange with strong warm undertones and a matte finish. I LOVE this colour. It's so bloody beautiful. The pigmentation is great but, again, it's really powdery which is such a bummer. It's not so powdery that it renders it useless but still slightly disappointing nonetheless. It lasted for about 5 hours on me.

Tiger Eye
A warm toned medium orange-brown with a matte finish. Has a really similar texture to Topaz in that it's smooth and buttery so it's lovely to use. I really like the shade too, it's the most perfect crease shade for warm toned looks. I'm a fan. It lasted for 5 hours before it started to fade.

Hematite
A deep red toned brown with a matte finish. It applies fine but as soon as you try to blend it, it becomes unbearably patchy. I've tried every brush I own and it just won't budge. Not even a little bit. I mostly use this as a liner, applied with a wet brush as that's the really the only way I can make it look okay - hopefully you have better luck! It lasted for 6 hours on me when applied as a liner.

Bronzite
A warm toned blackened brown with a matte finish. It feels dry and thin in the pan and skips across the eye on application. It is one of the patchiest eyeshadows I've ever used. Deffo not happy with this one - not at all. I haven't actually worn this for an entire day because I couldn't make it work for the life of me so unfortunately, I have no idea what the longevity is like mon pals! Sorry!

Obsidian
A true, neutral toned black shade with a matte finish. The pigmentation is okay although I may be harder to please after using Make Up Geek's "Corrupt" which is the BEST black eyeshadow that has ever existed. It applies well, feels soft in the pan but really is just okay. Not really a disappointment but nothing to write home about. It lasted for 4/5 hours on me.

So - would I recommend it? Nope. No, I wouldn't. The packaging is pretty, it photographs beautifully but £35 (plus shipping AND those god damn customs charges) is not worth a couple of pictures. There are only 4 shadows that I will use on a regular basis and I don't think that's worth the money at all. Sorry Kylie!

I'd love to know if you have this palette and what you think of it!

What's your favourite palette at the moment? What shade of shadows have you been using the most?

  2. Such a shame that you don't think its worth the money, I guess if we were in the states it would be different! I really want to make a custom palette of MUG and MAC eyeshadows so I have something that is perfect and I will use every shade, I have so many palettes where I don't even use half the shades in there x

  4. It's such a beautiful palette with great shades! But that's a crazy price to pay for just 9 shadows. I rather stick to Makeup Geek shadows!

  6. I love the look of the swatches but like you say, I think this one might be a little overhyped and not live up to the expectations!
