Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer

Why is finding a good concealer so difficult?!
I test out so many and have more in my collection than I now what to do with but I'm still yet to find my holy grail.

Clarins Instant Concealer

Clarins Instant Concealer (01) £21.50 - link

I think this is quite possibly the one.

This concealer is wonderful. The absolute only critique I could possibly have is that it only comes in 3 shades which is really disappointing, however that is it's one and only downfall.
Being water based this concealer is light and glides smoothly on to and in to the skin. It's a light - medium coverage but is buildable without caking or creasing. This shade, and the other 2 as far as I know, have peach undertones as it's aimed at cancelling out dark circles and it works beautifully. It has a creamy texture that isn't too thick that sets under the eyes like second skin. It's radiant but not illuminating so flash back isn't an issue which is always a bonus. As it is radiant to some extent it isn't the best choice to use when concealing active blemishes but it is fantastic at covering any scarring, evening out your skin tone and concealing any uneven pigmentation.

I have been thoroughly enjoying using this to make me look somewhat human in the mornings, especially on days where even coffee isn't doing the trick. It is really frustrating that not all skin tones are able to use this product but if one of the shades do match your skin tone, I couldn't recommend it more.

Have you tried this concealer? What's your favourite concealer?

Origins Plantscription Anti Aging Concealer

Origins Plantscription Anti Aging Concealer (Light) £17 - link

I'm always always on the hunt for a new and better concealer. I have ones that I do really like for example the Nars creamy concealer but even that still quite isn't the one.

I didn't even know that Origins had a make up range so I was super excited to try this. So far I do like it but it just doesn't tick all the boxes for me. I got the shade 'light' (the lightest shade) which when applied looks way too warm toned and almost orange. It blends out nicely though so there aren't any obvious patchy colours but still slightly annoying nevertheless. Because it blends so nicely it's perfect for under your eyes and concealing those dark circles. It never appears cakey no matter how many layers I put on and even with a pretty considerable build up of this it didn't crease or settle into any fine lines at all. The anti aging aspect of this concealer comes into play there where it's meant to blur fine lines which I don't necessarily agree with, but it doesn't accentuate them so that's definitely a good thing!

As for concealing, it's a light/medium coverage. It conceals any redness or uneven pigmentation with ease but as with all products of this coverage it doesn't hide everything. If you prefer a natural look and you don't have any heavy blemishes or scars you need to conceal this would be great for you. It lasts a considerable amount of time and I haven't noticed it move or fade when I've had it on either.

Personally I don't think this is a £17 concealer. Just as an example The Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer I used religiously last year is much better in my opinion and over £10 cheaper. It is nice and there are aspects of it that I think are great but just not great enough. The hunt for my holy grail concealer continues.

If you have any recommendations of concealers please please let me know!

Review: Soap & Glory Kickass Concealer Kit

After hearing a few people compare this to the Laura Mercier undercover pot I decided to try it as I'm always on the hunt for drugstore dupes so I was excited to see of I'd found a new one. Unfortunately my excitement was short lived. Usually with Soap and Glory products I'm nothing but the bearer of good news but this product failed to impress me. The kit comes with a pink toned and a yellow toned concealer, a pressed translucent powder and whole bunch of disappointment.

In theory I really like the idea of a two toned concealer kit, I often use two different toned concealers to cover different areas of my face so to have them in one compact set seemed perfect. The concealers themselves are incredibly greasy and for someone who has oily skin, the two don't mix well. On applying them under my eyes, I noticed that they creased easily, faded quickly and really didn't have the coverage I was hoping for and even more so on blemishes.

I can imagine this being more suitable for dryer skin types but I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone. I think there are much better concealers in the drugstore for a lot less than £10.

I hate to be so negative about a product but I was expecting much better things, sorry Soap and Glory!

What's your most disappointing drugstore product?

Lots of love.
