NARS Long Hot Summer Palette

Oh Nars, you've done it again. Yet another absolutely beautiful little palette.

Nars Long Hot Summer Palette £36
I picked this up a few weeks ago after instantly falling in love with it when I spotted it on their Instagram. Seeing this in person I was a little shocked how teeny tiny it is. Each shadow is less than 1g each which could either be a wonderful travel friendly bonus or a total flaw.

With 6 mostly warm toned neutrals I couldn't be more in love with it. A beautiful mix of mattes and shimmers make this a versatile product. For the most part all the shadows are pigmented, easy to blend and last around 6 hours on unprimed (oily) eyes and closer to 7-8 with a primer. Despite this being a part of Nars' Summer collection I think all of these shades would be so incredibly gorgeous for Autumnal looks too, which I for one, can not wait for. Give me all of the pumpkin spiced lattes.

Long Hot Summer I
A creamy ivory shade with light, warm undertones and a shimmering finish. This shade, though not greatly pigmented, is absolutely gorgeous. The shimmer set in this creamy shade is very glittery and leaves you with the most beautiful wash of shimmer with a hint of colour. It's pretty difficult to explain, especially when the swatch is doing it barely any justice, but I hope you understand what I mean. In the pan it does feel slightly dry but that doesn't make it difficult to blend at all. It lasted for 5/6 hours on me.

Long Hot Summer II
A bronze taupe shade with warm undertones and shimmery finish. The texture of this is much creamier than the last and it's much more pigmented. The shimmer is very much the same though and leaves the same stunning finish. This looks so lovely blended all over the eye and works so well with Mac's Fix + to give a much more intense look. It lasted for around 6 hours.

Bellissima II
A cool toned matte brown with strong grey undertones and a matte finish. Although the texture of this is creamy it does skip a little during application and can be a little patchy. It does blend but is easiest when done with a light hand. I've been using this a transition shade and to smoke out my lower lash line and it works great. It lasted for 6 hours on me.

Long Hot Summer III
A metallic, orange copper shade with warm undertones. This is such a gorgeous colour and the finish is equally as gorgeous. It's dry in texture but that doesn't make it difficult to get a high amount of pigment from it. It does blend, however, I would suggest applying this by patting it on to get the full effect. It does have a little bit of fall out but, again, that's pretty easy to over come by patting it on instead of blending. It lasted for 5 hours.

Long Hot Summer IV
A medium, warm toned brown bronze shade with a metallic finish. This is creamy, pigmented and my favourite shade. The pigment is insane and this applies wonderfully not matter how you do it. You could do it with one of those awful sponge on a stick things and I'm sure it would still look incredible. I've been wearing this on it's own with a little something blended in the crease and it's by far my most worn eye look at the moment. I would happily buy the whole palette again and again just for this shade. I love it. A lot. It lasted for around 6 hours.

Bengali
Last but not least a deep, warm toned chocolate brown shade with yellow undertones and a matte finish. This shade feels dry in the pan but is pigmented to high heaven. It doesn't skip or apply patchy like the other matte shade in this palette and instead is a complete dream to use. It does have a little kick back but a lighter hand and a less fluffy brush should help. It's gorgeous in the crease or smoked out on the lower lash line. It lasted for 6/7 hours.

There are a couple of shades that I think could use a little bit of work but overall I really like this palette. The colour selection alone would justify me repurchasing this again and again and for those really beautiful shades, I would buy this palette 100 times over (I'm looking at you Long Hot Summer IV). Also, I get that the shadow names are on theme but come on Nars! It's not exactly like you're not creative with shade names..

What do you think of this? Do you think you'll pick it up?

  1. I wasn't reacting to on the pan picture, but then I saw the swatch and if I could, I'd drool all over my keyboard (I couldn't, obviously). Long Hot Summer III is such a stunner!

  7. That palette is actually gorgeous, all of the shades are lovely! All of the palettes I love are bulky and pretty rubbish for travelling, but then it is quite expensive considering the amount of product you get xx

  10. This is such a beautiful palette, but I don't know if I would use it enough just because I have a lot of other palettes. It does pack some lovely shades in, though!
